James A. Paddington (ジェームズ・A・パディントン, Jēmuzu A Padinton?) is a minor antagonist in the Date A Live Series. He is a member of DEM and is the DEM 2nd executive head and the Captain of Arbatel first appearing in Volume 5.
Summary[]
James A. Paddington is an executive CEO/officer in DEM and the Captain of the DEM's airship <Arbatel>.
After having an engagement with <Ratatoskr>'s airship <Fraxinus> over the southern island where Shido and his classmates were having a Field Trip, they were forced to retreat after being badly damaged, but due to his pride as the Captain, he tried to capture the Spirits <Berserk> and <Princess> to make up for the disgrace he suffered from <Ratatoskr>. However, when they confronted <Berserk> and tried to capture them, they were shot down by them and the airship <Arbatel> was destroyed. The status of the crew members on board the <Arbatel> is unknown, although they are assumed to be killed during the destruction of the <Arbatel>.
However, it is revealed later that he survived the destruction of his airship but was captured by <Ratatoskr>. Even so, DEM seemed to have done something to his body and mind because he was not psychologically stable while captured and would act like a zombie most of the time. More so to prove that DEM did something to his body was when <Ratatoksr> founder, Mr. Woodman, came to question him. His body was used as a human transmitter before coughing out blood and ending the conversation between Woodman and Westcott.
Appearance[]
His appearance is that of a man in his mid 50s. He wears a military commander uniform symbolizing his rank in DEM. He has white skin and black eyes. His hair is brown and slightly curled.
Personality[]
Despite having made few appearances, James is a very prideful and arrogant man. He is boastful, selfish, and has a big ego, which makes him tend to get angry when things don't go according to his plans. He doesn't care about other people's opinions and apparently gets extremely wild when he is being defeated. However, his personality can be explained by his fear of Isaac Westcott. James has shown a great fear of his boss, Isaac Ray Pelham Westcott, as he demonstrated that DEM agents pay with their lives if they do not fulfill their missions successfully.
