Portrayal

Furue Tonami (砺波 篩絵, Tonami Furue?) was an eighth type Quasi-Spirit that first appeared in Date A Live Fragment: Date A Bullet.

Summary[]

Furue participated in the Killing Game in Malkuth. After capturing Empty and involving herself in a direct confrontation with Kurumi, she was shot down and thus eliminated.

Appearance[]

Furue had long, brown hair and magenta eyes. Her hairstyle seemed to match this with three old-fashioned braids and two blue hairclips attached to the side. The corners of her eyes looked to be drooping slightly, which gave her a mild look. Her Astral Dress took the form of a white sailor suit and long navy blue skirt. At her waist, an x-shaped belt was adorned with a strap to carry her Unsigned Angel when not in use.

Personality[]

As a result of being bullied in the past, Furue conditioned herself to "endure." After ending up in the Neighboring World, she got used to the life of fighting and confessed that she didn't miss her old life. She was scheming and always thought about her advantages against an enemy. She was brutal to her enemies and thought her true persona was more suitable in her new world. Often branded as a coward, yet in actuality, she was just a pragmatic strategist.

She did show a more gentle side to her personality when conversing with Empty and Sheri Musika, revealing that she longed to learn about love.[1] Furue also treated Empty civilly when they first met, unlike most of the other Quasi-Spirits in the Killing Game.[2]

Powers and Abilities[]

Unsigned Angel: Silphid (風声戦輪シルフィード, Shirufīdo?. lit. "Wind Voice Ring")

Weapon: Chakram

Astral Dress: Skywalk (風威霊装・四三番スカイウォーク, Sukaiwōku?. lit. "Wind Armor Spirit Dress, Number 43")

Furue's Unsigned Angel was Silphid, a chakram that she could control at will. Likely related to her being a genus of the eighth type (wind), her weapon was able to damage Astral Dresses, slice, and block attacks from her enemies. Her greatest asset in battle was undoubtedly her resourcefulness and cunning, showcasing this during her battles by combining her Unsigned Angel with the numerous traps she set up on the battlefield beforehand.

Quotes[]

  • (To Empty) "Please rest assured, we aren’t planning on doing anything like torture for you." [3]
  • (To Empty and Sheri Musika) "Love, is it really such a beautiful thing? I don’t understand; I don’t understand it at all." [4]

Trivia[]

  • The word "silphid", or "sylph", was first written in Paracelsus' works and refers to any race of mortal, but soulless spirits inhabiting the air.
  • The name Furue contains the kanji for "sieve" (篩, furu) and "painting" (絵, e).
  • Furue's surname Tonami means "polish" (砺, to) and "wave" (波, nami).
