Combat Realizer Units (戦術顕現装置搭載コンバット・リアライザユニット, Konbatto Riaraiza Yunitto?. lit. "Built-in Tactical Manifestation Apparatus Unit"), also known as CR-Units (CR-ユニット), are the armor and equipment used by Wizards.

Summary[]

The purpose of its creation is to oppose the extraterrestrial beings, the Spirits. The CR-Unit provides enhanced physical strength and is equipped with various weaponry for the user. However, they are not meant to be used indoors, as objects and corridors can interfere with a Wizard's Territory.[1] The Territory is necessary to wield the CR-Units, as they are otherwise too heavy to wear.[2] CR-Units receives instructions from the Realizer in the Wizard's brain. If this connection is ever severed, the CR-Unit becomes useless.[3]

CR-Unit[]

Known Units[]

The following are CR-Units that appeared in the entire franchise so far.

Named Units (Date A Live)[]

DEM CR-Units[]

Ratatoskr CR-Units[]

Unnamed Units (Date A Live)[]

  • Basic CR-Units worn by the AST have a red and black theme.
  • Advanced CR-Units worn by DEM Wizards have a violet and gray theme.
  • A violet and white Special Sorcery Service CR-Unit is worn by Origami to rescue Shido in volume 7. Mikie Okamine gave the equipment while Origami’s ID was frozen from her probation, stating that they recovered it from a terrorist group of former SSS members.
  • An unnamed CR-Unit used by a former DEM Wizard disguising herself as Beast.

The Ashcroft Series[]

The Ashcroft series is a new project of DEM consisting of five known units in the spin-off manga Date AST Like. The units are unique in that once equipped, they can no longer be used by other Wizards aside from the first person to use it, unless another Wizard is given a special key.

  • <Alice> - Capable of creating protection against other territories and creating boundary fields like <Ashcroft β>.
  • <Jabberwock> - Is capable of creating anti-territory fields rendering other CR-Units useless.
  • <Lion> - Specialized in long-range bombardment.
  • <Unicorn> - Excels in melee combat.
  • <Cheshire Cat> - Is equipped with an AI navigation system called <Bell>, self-healing function, and a pair of armor-piercing claws.

Aside from the Ashcroft, Minerva Riddell wore a CR-Unit from DEM before taking Jabberwock from Cecil.

Trivia[]

  • The CR-Units resemble the Hard Drive Divinity (HDD) forms from the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise, which shares Tsunako as the artist.
  • White Licorice and Scarlet Licorice have similar designs with the METEOR unit used by ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam and ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny series.
  • DEM Wizards that use CR-Units of the same model series as Ellen's are named after characters from Arthurian legend.
    • Ellen has <Pendragon>, the last name of King Arthur, and it is equipped with <Caledwich>, another name for Excalibur, and <Rhomgomiant>, which is Arthur's Spear.
    • Origami once had <Mordred>, the name of the villainous knight, and it is equipped with <Clarent>, which also shares the same name as Mordred's sword in Arthurian myth.
    • Artemisia uses a CR-Unit called <Lancelot>, which comes with a laser sword called <Arondight>, the name of Sir Lancelot's sword in Arthurian myth.
  • On the other hand, CR-Units produced by Asgard Electronics are named after Norse mythical figures. Mana's <Vanagandr> is another name for Fenrir, Origami's <Brunhild> is one of the Valkyries, and Woodman's Wodan is the Germanic name for Odin.
  • The Ashcroft CR-Units are named after characters from Alice in Wonderland.
