Date A Live Encore (デート・ア・ライブ アンコール, Dēto A Raibu Ankōru) is a Japanese spin-off light novel series of the Date A Live series written by Kōshi Tachibana and illustrated by Tsunako.
The Encore series focuses on the daily life of Shido and the Spirits.

The first volume was published on May 18, 2013, when the first season of the Anime was airing in Japan. So far, 11 volumes have been published at the moment.
Three stories from Volume 1 have anime adaptations. The stories "Tohka Gamer Center" and "Origami Impossible" were adapted into OVA-episode for the first season, and "Kurumi Star Festival" was adapted into OVA-episode for the second season.
Canonicity[]
Kōshi Tachibana's desire to write a separate series about the daily life of the characters came from the fact that he could not write about the ordinary life of Shido and the Spirits in the main series, so as not to stretch the plot. Also the chronology of the main story has empty time periods. Events in Encore close these empty segments.
As a rule, the Encore spin-off series is canonical to the main Date A Live story, and most of short stories in the series cover a certain interval in the universe's timeline. The exceptions may be individual cases, as well as very short stories at the beginning of every volumes, which are written in the "What if?" style.
