A Battlefield that Should be Impossible (あり得ないはずの戦場, Arienai hazu no Senjō?) is the tenth episode of Date A Live Ⅴ.
Synopsis[]
While relaxing by the beachside, Reine falls comfortably asleep on Shido's shoulder. Upon waking up, Reine begins to uncharacteristically laugh from being amused by the situation. After Kotori indicates that Reine's affections have exceeded the threshold, Shido kisses her. However, rather than being able to seal her powers, the path formed allows Reine to gain access to Shido's memories of the future. Shido once again asks Reine if she would consider a peaceful life with him and the Spirits as an alternative to her plans of reviving Shinji. Reine admits it is a tempting offer, but she still won't reconsider her plans due the the memories she once experienced first with Shinji.
At that moment, their date is interrupted by Kurumi, who proceeds to boldly confront her arch-enemy despite having received Shido's prior warning. Reine summons her own Astral Dress and casually repels Kurumi's bullet. Mio is once again summoned from within Kurumi and fuses together with Reine. However, this time Kurumi fires Zafkiel at herself, which causes Mio to fail in collecting Kurumi's Sephira Crystal. Before they can ponder what happened, they are intruded on by DEM's aerial fleet. Shido suffers a painful headache as he's teleported back to Fraxinus. Mio resolves to let Fraxinus take care of Shido while she goes off to eliminate the DEM fleet. Back onboard Fraxinus, the ship receives a transmission from Westcott, who offers an ultimatum of surrendering their Sephira Crystals in exchange for the safety of their civilian friends. Despite the implicit threat, Kotori refuses to comply with DEM's demands. Thanks to Mukuro's portals, the Spirits scatter throughout the city to save their friends from the Bandersnatch units.
However, this was within DEM's expectations, since Ellen uses that opportunity of their forces being dispensed to breach the hull of Fraxinus. Fortunately, before the DEM Wizard can attack the crew, Mana arrives to chase off Ellen to the exterior of the ship. Shido and Kotori leave for outside to provide reinforcements, with the latter leaving command of the ship to Kannazuki. The trio of siblings are confronted by DEM's main vanguard of Westcott, Ellen, Artemisia, and the Nibelcole. Despite their valiant efforts, they are soon overwhelmed by DEM's superior numerical advantage. However, just before things are settled, Kurumi's clones suddenly intervene on the battlefield.

Trivia[]
Major Events[]
- Shido successfully kisses Reine: instead of being sealed however, this act allows the two to share each other's memories, thereby allowing Mio to learn about Shido time traveling.
- Mio seemingly kills Kurumi again and rejoins with Reine.
- Westcott sends his forces to target civilians across Tengu City in an attempt to have Ratatoskr turn Shido and the Spirits over to him.
- With most of the Spirits distracted, Westcott goes with Ellen, Artemisia, and the Nibelcole to directly invade the Fraxinus. Shido, Mana, and Kotori repel them and take the fight outside at altitude.
Differences with the Light Novel[]
- In the anime, the Bandersnatch are only sent to attack Raizen High School and the AST's base, omitting other targets like Hiyori Asakura and Kanon Ayanokoji who had not been introduced in the anime. As a result, the Spirits are only sent to intercept the Bandersnatch in those two locations.
General[]
- This episode title shares the same name as chapter 3 of Volume 19.
